PEKIN, IL — Pekin Insurance is pleased to announce that John Colvert has joined the organization as Vice President – Sales & Marketing.

Colvert brings more than two decades of leadership experience across Property & Casualty insurance and life and financial services. He most recently served as Regional Vice President of Commercial Sales & Underwriting at Utica National Insurance Group, where he led strategic initiatives and delivered strong results across commercial lines.

Prior to Utica, Colvert was a Commercial Product Director at State Auto Insurance, where he drove profitable growth across a multi-state portfolio. In that role, he partnered closely with underwriting, analytics, IT, and sales teams to execute data-driven strategies and achieve measurable outcomes.

Earlier in his career, Colvert held senior leadership roles at Nationwide Insurance, focusing on business development, sales operations, and underwriting. He led large teams and managed multi-billion-dollar portfolios, earning a reputation as a collaborative, results-oriented leader who consistently aligns strategy with execution.

In his new role, Colvert will lead Pekin Insurance’s Sales and Marketing teams and will report to Joel Jackson, Senior Vice President (SVP) and Chief Operating Officer – Property & Casualty; SVP – Life.

Colvert and his wife, Margaret, reside in Columbus, Ohio, with their daughter, Riley, and their yellow lab, Murphy. Their son, Tyler, attends Indiana University, and their daughter, Kaitlyn, is a student-athlete at the University of Toledo. Outside of work, Colvert enjoys spending time with family, attending sporting events, and exploring parks, often with Murphy enthusiastically leading the way.
