D.A. POINTS

Pekin Insurance is proud to sponsor PGA TOUR professional and former “Pekin-ite” D.A. Points, who is committed to going Beyond the expected® on the golf course.

D.A. Points was born and raised in Pekin, Illinois, where he attended Pekin Community High School and led the Dragons to the Illinois High School Association state championship in 1994. He attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and was a third team All-American member of the golf team. Points is a three-time Illinois Amateur champion and reached the quarterfinals of the 1996 U.S. Amateur at Pumpkin Ridge, where he lost to eventual champion Tiger Woods, 3 and 2.

2011 was a breakout year for D.A. as he captured his first ever PGA TOUR title at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. In addition, he won the pro-am portion of the tournament alongside his childhood idol, actor Bill Murray. Since 1987, just three other champions have also won the pro-am portion of the event.

2013 SEASON

At the end of March 2013, D.A. won the Shell Houston Open to clinch his first PGA TOUR victory since his championship at the 2011 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. Nearly one month later, he finished second to Billy Horschel at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans with a final score of 19 under par on TPC Louisiana. The runner-up finish moved D.A. to 48th in the World Golf Rankings and to 7th in the FedExCup championship standings.
