Pet Insurance

Pet insurance covers dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens.

You love coming home and hearing the excited pitter-patter of paws across the floor. Your four-legged family members bring you so much joy! Pet insurance offers them the care they deserve at a price you can afford.

Why Pet Insurance Is a Smart Choice

Pet insurance covers certain vet bills for accidents and illnesses. It’s a win-win for you and your furry companions.

We offer this coverage because pet medical care really adds up! According to the American Pet Products Association, pet owners in the US spent $18.11 billion on vet care in 2018.

How to Get Pet Insurance

You can add a pet insurance plan to a Pekin Insurance homeowners policy. This coverage is for cats and dogs 6 weeks of age and older.

The maximum age for adding your pet is:

  • 8 years old for dogs.
  • 10 years old for cats.

Pre-existing, chronic conditions are excluded, so think about insuring your pet at an early age when they’re more likely to be healthy.

What the Plan Covers

Physical harm to your pet arising from normal activity or an accident including:

  • Lacerations.
  • Burns.
  • Broken bones.
  • Ingestion of foreign objects.
  • Poisoning.
  • And more.

Any change to the normal, healthy state of your pet not caused by an accident such as sickness, disease, or medical conditions.

Take your ill or injured pet to the licensed veterinarian of your choice. Ask for an invoice showing the type and nature of treatment, fees charged, and the reason for treatment.

Plan Options

Choose a maximum annual benefit of $2,500 or $5,000, both with a $100 deductible and 10% coinsurance.

Waiting Period

There is a 14-day waiting period after the effective date during which we will not cover any illness of your pet. Coverage for injuries begins 24 hours after the effective date.

Provide our customer service team with the original invoices from the vet visit within 90 days of the first treatment. Pekin Insurance will process the claim and reimburse you for the covered portion of the bill.

Your Pets Need These Vaccinations

  • Rabies.
  • Distemper.
  • Adenovirus Type 2.
  • Parvovirus.
  • Bordetella.
  • Parainfluenza.
