Attention Illinois Homeowners! Consumber Alert! Illinois Department of Insurance Warns Consumers Not to Purchase Home Warranty Service from Arkidus Home Protection

Posted by on Feb 18, 2013 in News

The Illinois Department of Insurance (DOI) is alerting consumers that Arkidus Home Protection has been unlawfully marketing home warranty services to Illinois residents via the Internet. Despite a previous order by the Department to cease and desist from doing business in Illinois, the Florida-based Arkidus offered coverage for household appliances. The Department has received several complaints from consumers who were having difficulty receiving reimbursement from Arkidus for claims. An investigation determined that Arkidus and Reinaldo “Ray” A. Berges, who conducted business individually and on behalf of the company, had never been granted a certificate of authority to transact insurance or a license to sell home warranties in Illinois. Consumers who have been doing business with Arkidus, via its website (theahp.net) or Mr. Berges, should immediately seek assistance about their coverage. Read the Cease and Desist Order.

Posted by on Jan 2, 2013 in News

The yuletide fervor of the holiday season is over, but the heartfelt efforts and outpouring of caring of Pekin Insurance employees is still felt by some less fortunate families in Pekin. Through the company’s Christmas Care program, these families had a Christmas that they will not forget for a long time.

Since Thanksgiving, there were Christmas Care collection boxes located throughout the company’s Home Office in Pekin. As the weeks progressed throughout the holiday season, the boxes began to fill with food items and new and gently-used toys and games. The employees also opened their wallets to help the less fortunate families have a wonderful Christmas.

Pekin Insurance’s annual Christmas Care program started more than 25 years ago and has helped many families in the Pekin area have a Christmas they never thought possible. Throughout the years, the donations of food and toys and generous monetary donations made Christmas shine more brightly for many families in the local area. As is customary, Santa accompanied the Christmas Care deliverers this year, and as usual, Santa provoked squeals of delight and excitement for the children in the households.

The Christmas Care program would not happen without each and every employee at Pekin Insurance. Faith in mankind is renewed every time we share the good things that life offers. Christmas Care gifts are the ones that matter most.

Pekin Insurance Agencies Helped to Bring Joy to Troops Serving Overseas (2012)

Posted by on Dec 18, 2012 in News

Pekin Insurance independent agencies, pre-need agencies, and financial institution partners made the holidays more meaningful and merry to our troops overseas by participating in a recent “Care for the Troops with Life” sales contest.

For every life insurance application that they submitted during the contest, monetary funds were donated to the USO Operation Care Package program, whose goal is to support our soldiers, marines, sailors, and airmen through care packages and letters of encouragement. Thanks to the combined efforts of Pekin Insurance’s independent agency force, pre-need agencies, and financial institution partners, the company donated $20,000 to this worthy cause.

The company and its independent agencies sincerely thank the men and women who are making the sacrifice and commitment to fight for the freedom and safety of our country. We were happy to take this opportunity to provide members of our armed services with care packages to remind them of home and provide them encouragement during the holiday season.

In business since 1921, Pekin Insurance today offers multiple lines of insurance in Arizona, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Ohio, and Wisconsin and is represented by nearly 1,200 independent agencies, over 550 pre-need agencies, and over 400 financial institutions.

Pekin Insurance® Participates in American Red Cross Ready Rating™ Program

Posted by on Aug 30, 2012 in News

All businesses exist in a challenging world. A well-crafted emergency response plan is critical in planning for the unexpected. The American Red Cross has created a new Ready Rating program which aids an organization in gaining a better understanding of the principles of emergency response and creating their own solid emergency response plans. Their recent research has shown that more than half of Americans say that they don’t feel
prepared for an everyday emergency, let alone a catastrophe. Because emergencies can happen at any time, there is a constant need to prepare for emergencies. The Ready Rating program is a tool to help organizations solve this problem.

Pekin Insurance has enrolled in the new disaster planning program and has successfully completed the assessment and planning tools. The company has established a Safety Board with a central focus of overseeing employee safety, implementing effective evacuation procedures, and recording proper documentation. A Safety Committee has also been formed that consists of employees from every department in the company to help improve the level of preparedness for an unexpected catastrophe or disaster.

Some of the preparedness events that have taken place have been fire extinguisher training, AED/CPR training, developing documentation of safety plans and procedures, and holding safety meetings on a monthly basis.

As a company, Pekin Insurance strives to create a safe work environment for its employees and agents and insureds who visit their buildings. Emergencies are inevitable. Pekin Insurance is proud that they and their employees have made great advancements with the American Red Cross Ready Rating program in becoming better prepared for emergencies and possible disasters. Thanks to the program, they will continue to know what steps to take in the future to improve their readiness for whatever unexpected events may occur.

If you are interested in improving your level of emergency preparedness, visit http://readyrating.org/ to find out how you, too, can become a Ready Rating™ partner so your business, school, or organization can better protect those who count on you for a safe enviroment.
